Programme content and structure


In preparation for the residential part of your programme, you will complete the following:

  • An AIMS 360 degree feedback questionnaire
  • An Influencing Style Preferences Inventory to help you assess your approach to influencing
  • A personal development questionnaire which will help you identify a live influencing situation that you are currently facing at work, which will be used during the week as the basis for highly participative practical work and discussion.

Three-day residential phase

Over three days you will explore and learn about:

The influencing model - an overview of a successful influencing process, based on a combination of current research findings and participants own experiences, linking effective influencing behaviours with a strategy which fits the structure of your own organisation.

Key skills for influencing - exploration of key success factors and identification of personal influencing style.

Creating the right impression - understanding the importance of impression management as a part of building your influencing reputation and credibility.

Self and others awareness - review of personal skills and competences and the impact your approach has on others.

Influencing tools and techniques - introduction to a range of practical tools and techniques which contribute to effective influencing outcomes, practising these skills to develop and extend your range of influencing capabilities and receive feedback.

Influencing to achieve effective outcomes - practising and implementing skills based on previous sessions and receiving feedback on performance.

Planning for action - developing a concrete action plan for implementation on your return to work. This is based on a real life influencing situation that you currently face in your organisation and starts at the beginning of the programme

You will leave the programme - with a copy of Influencing: Skills and Techniques For Business Success by Ashridge authors, Fiona Dent and Mike Brent.
